Mars, Inc. has announced a $47 million investment over three years to reduce emissions in its dairy supply chain as part of its broader $1 billion climate commitment. The “Moo’ving Dairy Forward” plan aims to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050. A key component is the Mars-FrieslandCampina Sustainable Dairy Development Program, which will implement innovative on-farm interventions to reduce methane emissions and enhance manure management and sustainable feed production. Mars will also launch pilot “net zero” dairy farms in Germany and explore seaweed supplements to lower methane emissions from cows. This initiative underscores Mars’ dedication to sustainability and aims to reshape the dairy industry for a more sustainable future.
