Total Energies and Vanguard Renewables, a BlackRock portfolio company, have unveiled plans for a new joint venture focused on converting food biowaste into renewable natural gas (RNG) across the U.S. Leveraging Vanguard Renewables’ expertise in anaerobic digestion and TotalEnergies’ global experience in renewable gas assets, the partnership aims to develop 10 RNG projects within the next year, with an annual capacity of 0.8 TWh. This initiative aligns with TotalEnergies’ goal of producing 10 TWh of biomethane by 2030, contributing significantly to reducing CO2 emissions. The joint venture marks a strategic move by TotalEnergies to expand its biogas capacity internationally through partnerships, highlighting its commitment to sustainability and decarbonization efforts.
