Biden-Harris Administration Allocates $900 Million for Over 3,400 Clean School Buses Nationwide

The Biden-Harris Administration has announced nearly $900 million in funding through the EPA’s 2023 Clean School Bus Program to support the replacement of older, diesel-fueled school buses with over 3,400 new clean school buses, 92% of which will be electric. This funding will benefit approximately 530 school districts across nearly every state, Washington, D.C., several Tribes, and U.S. territories, aiming to improve air quality, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance children’s health. The program, part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda, also aims to boost demand for American-made batteries and vehicles, thus creating well-paying jobs. EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan and other officials will highlight the program’s benefits in a ceremony in Jackson, Mississippi. This initiative aligns with the Justice40 Initiative, ensuring that disadvantaged communities receive a significant portion of the benefits.
