EU Introduces Simplified Measures to Support EUDR Implementation

In a major move to ease compliance and promote sustainability, the European Commission has introduced new guidance and simplification measures to support the effective implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which comes into force at the end of 2025.

The updated guidance is designed to reduce the administrative burden on companies and ensure a harmonized approach across EU Member States. According to the Commission, the changes are expected to reduce compliance-related administrative costs by 30%.

Key Simplification Measures Include:

  • Reuse of Due Diligence Statements (DDS) for goods reimported into the EU market

  • Allowing annual DDS submissions, replacing the current per-shipment requirement

  • Enabling authorized group representatives to file on behalf of company members

  • Streamlined documentation for large downstream companies using reference numbers

The guidance responds to feedback from stakeholders, industry groups, and international partners, and aims to facilitate the transition to sustainable, deforestation-free supply chains without compromising environmental objectives.

At EcoActive, we welcome these developments and are committed to helping organizations navigate the evolving EUDR framework. Our ESG reporting solutions are built to ensure full compliance, enhanced transparency, and actionable sustainability insights.
